A Message of Thanks and Farewell
Chef Mark Garofalo
Chef Mark here. On December 31st, 2025, after more than twenty two years, Fire Works Catering closed its doors.
What started off as a small sandwich shop in Wayland Square called Deli on the Square and grew into a larger off-site caterer known as Fire Works Catering has been my home that I have shared with over 100 employees, in which we have served thousands of clients over the years. It has been a joy to work with so many people and to see some of them grow up to be successful chefs here in Providence, New York City, and other locations. We have served the homeless, rock stars, politicians, and everyday people. We served schools, universities, corporations, friends, colleagues, and non-profits for everyday meals, office meetings, galas, holidays, birthdays, bar mitzvahs, sporting events, and weddings. It hasn’t always been easy, but it has been satisfying. We made it through recessions, equipment failures, stolen trucks, and the Covid pandemic. Over the years, we have donated what I estimate to be over $250,000 in time, energy, food, and labor to various causes in Providence and throughout Rhode Island. Of all of what is written above, I am proud. I have tried to lead and coach my staff and serve the community with humility, grace, and gratitude. To everyone in any way involved with Fire Works Catering, either as an employee, vendor, or client, I wish to thank you for the past 22 years. It has been a rewarding and satisfying experience. Thank you to all of you.
I do not yet know what the future holds. But I am looking forward to the next chapter with anticipation. And what I do know is that I will always look back at the last 22 years with joy and fond memories.
